On my very first day as an insurance agent – November 3, 1997 – my father, a veteran of the industry for 42 years, took me out for breakfast.
We had a wonderful time that morning – him sharing stories about his career and inspiring me as I was about to begin mine. As we were finishing up, he looked at me and asked, “Do you know what the key to success as an insurance agent is?” Being my first day, of course, I had no clue. He reached across the table, pulled a napkin from the dispenser, and wrote the following on it:

He told me that if I would follow this simple RULE, and make a commitment to serve my clients, I would always have success in the insurance industry.
That napkin hangs framed in my office as a continual reminder to me and the members of our team of what we need to do EVERY DAY. It has become the foundation of how we operate and the basis of our company’s culture.
